Helping you apply

At OPC we participate in the Australian Public Service (APS) RecruitAbility Scheme. The scheme gives people with disability a better opportunity to put forward their skills and experience during the selection process.

If you have a disability you can opt into the RecruitAbility scheme. We will ensure any reasonable adjustments you require are provided along the way.

Please contact us if you are having difficulty using the online recruitment system.

Your application

Your application should be brief and align to the position profile and application requirements.

Follow the links from the current vacancies page to our online recruitment system. Your email address will be your user ID and you will be asked to choose a password. Your email address is our primary method to contact you.

  • You will be asked to fill-in your personal details to create your candidate profile. This information will stay in profile for future applications and can be updated at any time.
  • Check eligibility criteria for each position in the first instance.
  • After reviewing the position and application requirements, you are encouraged to speak to the contact officer to learn more about the role.
  • You must provide the contact details for 2 referees. One of these must be your current or most recent manager. You can ask to be advised before we contact your referees.
  • You can login and change your incomplete application up until the closing time. If your application is incomplete, you will receive a reminder email before the job closes. Please review your responses carefully as you will not be able to edit your application once submitted.
  • You can "save and close" your online application at any time, but it will not be considered unless "submit" is selected. You will be unable to submit your application if mandatory questions are missed.
  • You may "recall" an application and edit up until the closing date. Make sure you then "submit" it again.
  • You can see the status of your application when signed in.
  • If you "withdraw" an application you will not be able to reapply for the same position.

Selection process

The standard selection process consists of:

  • reviewing your application
  • comparing what you offer with others, often by an interview
  • confirmation using referee checks.

Some processes may use other assessment methods such as online work sample testing to determine your suitability. In some cases, the selection process may be based on application and referee checks only.

Eligibility

To apply, you must:

  • be an Australian citizen
  • successfully gain and maintain a security clearance at the required level
  • be willing to undergo a pre-employment suitability assessment and complete a health declaration before starting.

You may also need to meet other eligibility requirements specific to the position, as outlined in the position advertisement.
